Listed below are the delivery options available for the A+nyWhere Learning System® courseware program:
A+nyWhere Learning System:
Client-Server Delivery — LAN/WAN or Online
The design of the A+nyWhere Learning System® courseware is true client-server architecture. The “client” side is an application running on the client machine, whether it is a LAN workstation or an individual computer dialed into an Internet server. The “server” side is a series of other applications that provide the client application with content and handles the database functionality. The two sides communicate through a TCP/IP connection, meaning A+LS™ can be delivered in a traditional LAN environment, or via a hosted subscription service provided by AEC.
A+LS™ architecture allows for numerous deployment options to meet customer needs. Curriculum content and student data can be located on different servers at different locations. For example, a district-wide WAN could have centrally-located, real-time student data with media being delivered by local servers at the schools, to optimize bandwidth usage.
Browser-Based Delivery
The A+nyWhere Learning System® courseware can also be delivered via standard Internet browsers. This option allows the greatest flexibility in client platforms and access by workstations not located at district facilities. Educators, students, and administrators can have access to the A+nyWhere Learning System® courseware from their homes, media centers, libraries, or community centers by simply logging onto the Internet. Students can access homework assignments and view their academic progress.
And…the two work together. A customer who has a client-server installation and browser-based users use the same database and content. So there are numerous possibilities for configuring deployment of A+LS™ for access from school, homes, and other community access points.
