New Mexico High School Credit Recovery & GED Test Preparation

Posted on February 6, 2010

Credit Recovery is traditionally defined as a way to “recover” credit for a course that a student was previously unsuccessful in earning academic credit towards graduation.

It differs greatly from programs that allow students to earn “first time credit” in that students having already satisfied seat time requirements for a course in which they were unsuccessful can focus on earning credit based on competency of the content standards for the particular course.

Credit Recovery programs, in general, have a primary focus of helping students stay in school and graduate on time. Simply put, it is an effective and proven way to help students earn credits in courses they did not pass the first time around.

From a financial perspective, credit recovery if not managed correctly can be costly. In a traditional summer school program, the cost can skyrocket to as much as $7,500 in teacher cost alone.

Software can play a crucial role in assisting these students as well as keeping the cost at a manageable level. With the advancements in technology, diagnostic testing as well as curriculum have been unified. Students are now able to receive the skills necessary to complete a course while still retaining its rigor and integrity.

Both student and teacher win. Testing is delivered online (automatic), curriculum is delivered properly (automatic), grading is simple (automatic) and teachers can focus their attention on helping students.

Many recovery programs are out dated or slimmed down versions of the original course work. Backbone Communications along with A+ learning are dedicated to giving each student the tools necessary for success in learning.

Software is aligned to state benchmarks and standards and in continuously checked to make sure that they meet the guideline set forth by the federal government.
