Arizona Online High School Courses

Posted on February 5, 2010

As the landscape of education changes and the 21st Century Classroom becomes more prevalent in our schools, we must ask ourselves one question:

“Are the days of brick and mortar schools over?”

In Arizona alone, it has been estimated that over 1 million students per year are taking online courses.

With budgets decreasing and individualized services harder to provide, can opening your own online school aid in keeping your teachers and students enrolled in your district?

Many districts and charter schools have the vision of opening their own online school or program to service the needs of their students who are currently taking online classes from other providers.

Unfortunately, they do not have the resources or time to create the assessments, write the content or align them to state standards. With this in mind, many school officials choose to share funding or directly pay an online courseware provider. In this process, it is difficult for the schools to ensure that the courses being provided are up to their increased level of expectations.

Over the past ten years Backbone Communications has been helping schools set up and administer online courses to meet the expectations of each individual school. With the use of the A+nyWhere Learning System schools can provide over 200 online courses are aligned to state standards.

These courses can be used for Credit Recovery, Alternative Education, State Test Prep, and Differentiated Instruction, all while including Formative & Benchmark Assessments. This model allows for schools to keep ALL of their funding and pay their teachers to administer the courses.

In turn, this will allow for teachers to keep their jobs and maintain the high academic standards of their school in an online environment.

There are many advantages to this type of online curriculum delivery model.
