This place is for you, the users of the A+nyWhere Learning System, A+ LearningLink, and A+ Classroom. It is meant to be a place where users can meet, exchange ideas, share resources, talk to each other, ask questions, brag on what works, tell the stories of successes with kids. Faculty from the home offices of A+ will part of the community, available to answer questions and make their own contributions.
As the Community is beginning, there are variety of forums with general topics. There are special interest groups for correctional education, alternative education, and special education. As we grow, new groups will be added as the discussion grow larger and more people participate. Some of the possible interest groups include online learning, preparing for college, English language learners, elementary education and many more. Perhaps there might be a wiki where users from across the country get together to create a brand new A+LS module.
We hope that the A+ Community of Practice will become a place where users come to talk with each other, and we also hope that it becomes a place for resources such as research papers, best practices, unique uses, action research, and others of which we’ve not yet thought.
The A+Community of Practice is built in Moodle, a course management platform. So, “course” is the name of most every destination where activities, discussions, and resources are located. Look to the panels on the left side of this web page for links to the “courses” that have topics you would like to join.

More States Adopt the Common Core Standards
by Tom Trautman – Tuesday, June 8 2010, 11:50 AM
An article was released this morning from EdWeek. More states are adopting the Common Core Standards. So far, Ohio, Wisconsin, and North Carolina officially adopted the standards after their final release last week. Hawaii, Kentucky, Maryland, and West Virginia conditionally adopted the standards prior to the final release. That makes seven states in all!
The standards team here at AEC is right on top of these new standards and we are in the process of getting them uploaded and aligned in A+LS.
Here’s a link to the full article from EdWeek.
